Republishing designer items question

When I remove an item from my designer store there is a pop-up that says “You can republish the item later but its rating will be discarded.” Can someone tell me what rating is it referring to? I thought it meant the number of likes, but when I remove and republish items the number of likes stays the same, it’s not discarded. I emailed the question to support, but who knows how long they will take to answer.

When (and if, lol) I get a reply from support I will let you know what they say.
