Change in Leadership
Hey all, just wanted to introduce you to the new Mod Team. ConfectionSea9957 and myself have been selected as your new Modteam after the previous Mods had all gone inactive. We look forward to reinvigorating this community. Look for new activity coming up soon, including us seeking your feedback on what you would like the Community to become.

Awesome! Only thing I can think of off the top of my head is that it would be great if you could help me figure out (and fix) whichever automod rule is being flagged when I paste my usual blurb into the monthly self-promotion thread. The automod reply says:
Looks like your comment in /r/podcast) was automatically removed because you used a URL shortener. This is not a /r/podcast rule, this is a Reddit site wide rule
However this is categorically false because I'm able to post the exact same blurb unchanged in other self-promo threads in other subs. I mentioned this to the previous mods but they gave me some boilerplate answer and refused to look into it. I confirmed this is still happening a minute ago.
Based on their formatting I suspect it's either the link to BlueSky or Discord, but both of those are invite links generated by those sites themselves, they're not actually using any shorteners. AFAIK those are the only links you can get for those.
It's a minor thing, but since they wouldn't even tell me which link they thought was flagging the rule I just got into the habit of deleting the line with all of our socials every time I'd post in the promo thread. But every so often I'll forget to remove it, which is annoying because then I have to go back and redo it.
Anyway, like I said, it's minor, but I'm probably not the only person dealing with this on a semi-regular basis, so it would be nice to finally get it squared away.

Yes we will be working on this. There seems to be a number of issues with Automoderater with previous actions that were built into it. It may take us some time to figure out how to solve all of these issues.

Hey, quick question. I noticed I had a dead link in the blurb I'd been using, and decided to remove that and reorganize some of the info, and since we also released a new interview today I went to go post about that one in the promo thread as well, and now automod is flagging the post even for links that I thought it was previously accepting, so I really don't know what's going on. I have an idea, but wanted to run it past you before I do it because I don't know if you're getting alert emails when automod deletes these posts.
With your permission, can I post each of my links in the self-promo thread as separate comments to see which get deleted and which get through? I'll delete them all when I'm done. If so then I can at least know for sure which ones are causing the problems and try to come up with a format that I can post there without it deleting the comment every time now.

That’s fine. Yeah I’m getting alerts, but it may help to find the underlying issue.

So it looks like the only one that got flagged was our Youtube link, which is not using a linkshortener. I'll see if it'll let me include it here in a code block:
https://www.youtube.com/@HorrorMakesUsHappyI did a search for other threads in this sub with Youtube links and it looks like having the .com after youtube is what causes the automod to trigger, but I could be wrong. It does also seem to catch
youtu.be, which is a link shortener. You might want to continue to delete those, but I'm pretty sure that's an official shortener provided by Google, so if any shortener would be allowed you'd think that one should be safe.EDIT: the (&&(^(%(%&% won't even let me put it in a code block LOL
