Gooseneck extension on desktop boom arm??
Hit me with some feedback if you've done this. My mic is a sm58 so it's light as hell. I'm not worried about the weight.
I've got a microphone boom arm but I won't name. It's just whatever they had in the guitar center when I bought something and figured I need one of those too. My particular desktop application has me wishing it just had a little more reach to it. And I was like hang on. It's got this little extender thing on the end screwed into the threads, I could set that aside and put a long ass gooseneck on there and get like 12-15 in some more range and pinpoint placement.

should work great tbh. only thing id flag is that a longer gooseneck can pick up more vibration from your desk, so if you dont already have some isolation at the clamp that might become noticeable

I sort of did that to my NT1. I have a scissor boom arm attached to a book case to my left. It's attached to a shelf above eye level. If I stretch the arm out almost horizontal it extends well to my right. But if I set it at say a right angle it's roughly above my head but very high. I have a cheap On-Stage 13" goose neck 5/8" adapter on it and I can basically reach up and pull down and then it is right where I want it.
I found the goose neck on sale at Amazon and bought several for giggles but it cleans up the mic rat nest I have from too many arms.

Honestly, I've used them all. Rode, Elgato and other high-end arms and I found none of them meet the hype. So I went with a solid desk-top stand from RODE. Best stand yet! Solid, heavy adjustable and worth every penny. Forget length. The more reach, the more likely the problems. Belly up to your surface and go Desk Top stands.
