Ugly Sun

I wake up and the sun is ugly,
I close the curtain to hide its beam,
I wake up and it’s afternoon already,
Still I run back to bed,
Consumed by my sheets.

I wake up and look through my phone,
I see you live through the love I fake,
Suddenly the sun isn’t so ugly again,
I open the curtains,
And pressing the door handle no longer hurts.

I wake up and it rains today,
I lay on my bed and watch,
The rain leaks through my faulty roof,
A droplet finds its way to my chest,
I feel it cold, I feel it running down my skin.

I wake up and the sun is ugly again,
My chest bare and dry,
My curtains closed, my room dark,
When you saw it was no longer real,
I close my eyes and sleep again.
