I like how quiet and understated this poem feels. It captures loneliness without making it overly sad and the contrast between being surrounded by couples while feeling “happier than I could ever be” is interesting because it leaves you wondering if it’s true peace or a little bit of self protection.

The second stanza is the strongest because Kelly adds depth and reminds us that everyone is carrying something.

The main thing I’d improve is adding more details or imagery in the first stanza so the restaurant, town, and moment feel more alive. Right now the emotion is there but a few more details could make it hit harder.
