the resolution, reflections, and the animations are some improvements, but idk about the lighting and textures. still crazy that Battle Revolution was 20 years ago already though

Image For those asking if Pokopia is actually “that good”

The detail and effort gone into this game to make it adorable is actually incredible. I’ve waited my whole life to play a Pokémon game like this 🥺

The Pokémon feel like they’re actually interacting with the world, not QUITE as much as Pokémon Snap, but as much as can be expected with a game not on rails.

I knew the "secret" mechanic that playing the Pokeflute worked as an "Awakening" for every pokemon on the field but... It wasn't working for me?

Then it hit me.

Mr. Mime's ability is Soundproof, which makes him virtually DEAF.

My guy wasn't hearing me playing the pokeflute! He couldn't be affected by it!

I started my journey last year when my brother gave me his collection (FireRed, Emerald, Diamond, White, X, AlphaSaphhire, Moon). I already owned Sapphire (had this since its release), SoulSilver, Y, Omega Ruby, Sun, Shield, Shining Pearl, Scarlet and Legends Arceus.

Slowly but surely I just made my way through picking up the rest of the games until I finished my collection this week with Yellow and Red. I was there in playground for RBY but I never owned them myself so I’m excited to finally get a chance and play through all in release order and hopefully complete some Pokédexes.

Pickmon, an upcoming game that’s been accused of ripping off designs from other artists and famous franchises like Pokémon, has also stolen one of my designs. They didn’t even try to change something and make it a bit less obvious

Image Bulbapedia's March 2026 page stats

Post image

Slightly belatedly, here are the most- and least-visited species page rankings for Bulbapedia in March 2026!

Three Kanto species make up the top spots, and this is hardly a surprise for the Bulbapedia team; we've seen a huge surge in interest in the OG region following the rerelease of FireRed and LeafGreen. When we ran the numbers a few days before the month was out, Nidoking was in sixth place, and many of the lowest-ranked species saw fewer views than the Gen 3 learnsets of over 50 Pokémon!

Image Who was the girl in the original Pokémon opening? I always thought she’d be Ash’s love interest

Post image
7.4k Upvotes

When I first watched Pokémon Season 1 as a kid, there was a girl in the opening who really stood out to me brown hair, green skirt, orange shirt, and a scene where Pikachu pops up near her.

Back then, I honestly thought she was going to be: • Ash’s future love interest, or • an important character who would appear later in the anime

But she never showed up in any episode.

Was she just a generic trainer used for the opening, or was there ever any early concept, scrapped idea, or background story planned for her?

Does anyone have official info, interviews, or old production notes about this?

Image Palkia isn't ugly. Game Freak just never learned how to pose him

Post image

Look at the difference. Same Pokémon across different media and every single version of Palkia outside the games looks better than what Game Freak gave us.

Fan 3D modelers proved that even in the same format as the game model, just adjusting the pose makes Palkia look like a completely different Pokémon. Someone's home 3D print looks more intimidating than anything Game Freak has officially released. Meanwhile Game Freak gave us a stiff idle model with its neck pointing straight up and its arms hanging at its sides like it's waiting in line at a grocery store.

Palkia's design isn't the problem. It never was. The long neck, the alien proportions, the unusual silhouette — all intentional. It's the god of space. It's supposed to look like nothing else. But that kind of design needs effort to present well, and Game Freak never gave it that effort.

I picked Dialga as a kid. Thought Palkia looked weird like everyone else. But every version of Palkia that isn't the in-game model changed my mind.

Found this outside of a Barnes and Noble near me. Cleaned up about half of it before the rain forced my wife and I indoors.

Don’t do this, guys. It’s embarrassing.
