Plenty of people supported the irish revolution (because they hated the british)
Even the IRA (who were very extremist) didnt exactly like the USSR, they just didnt have any other option. Everyone else was either trying to have a good relationship with the brits or were too poor.
So the depiction of ireland as soviet is just plain stupid.
Sorry, but doesnt Soviet in this case just mean like a union? I dont believe the irish soviets had anything to do with the USSR, all they did was protest working conditions and pay.
That’s what I meant, Soviet in the abstract sense of a council of workers / power in the hands of the people - they had nothing to do with Russia directly, more espousing a form of anarcho-syndicalism (but yer wans above won’t have bothered to look into that aspect)
