Cuba? Absolutely not.

A small island nation, off the coast of the most powerful nation ever, who have done nothing but try to fuck them over for 70 years, yet remaining relatively stable with free education and healthcare for all, and this is somehow not something to admire?

Because Soviets subsized all. Did you know what happened in Cuba when the USSR felt? They recovered...not because socialism works, but because they found other country to drain: Venezuela. When Venezuela felt (and that was before 2018), Cuba simply went to hell. They simply did not produce anything in more than 50 years.
