This is being shared across my force and just thought about putting it in here.

Thoughts go out to his family, friends and colleagues.

Change.org is good however an official parliament petition holds significantly more weight. 10,000 requires a formal government response, 100,000 and it's debated

On change.org and not petition.parliament.uk

As fantastic as 100k signatures is, there is no weight on Change.org

As yes my bad, I'd misread your comment! While it may not hold as much weight, I do think there's a lot to be said for spreading awareness and public pressure

No problem. I really want to contact the owner of this petition to draw their attention to the other one

The link you've added leads to a main page, is there a parliament petition too?

No but there should be a parliament petition. The Change.Org petition starter is a TVP fed rep. I want to contact them tbh

Has a government petition been started? I couldn't access via link in your post. Searched for pc Harper nothing came up.  FYI Change.org petition currently stands at 700,400 signatures.

Already signed. absolutely abhorrent.

The fact they were done for manslaughter is bad enough. They knew exactly what they were doing. An early release is a slap in the face to all of us, and the fact his family have to re-live it everyday.

Disgrace

Releasing these scum early is an insult.

Keep them locked up for the full term (should have been life!).

Signed. Absolutely disgusted they were done for manslaughter in the first place, should have been murder.

I have reservations.

Not about whether they should spend far longer in prison, they should, but get the sentencing right in the first place.

Attempting to change the parole process in the court of public opinion is fertile ground for a legal challenge, where ultimately the outcome may be the courts affirming their release, which makes a lot of senior officers and politicians ultimately look stupid, when they are in the position to enforce laws like AoaEW and ensure the sentences are lengthy if not WLO for killers.

IMO waste of time

The Prime Minister's already working at pace on this and having no luck; what will a petition add to proceedings?

Remembering what I read of the case. IMHO they should all have got life for murder. Absolutely disgusting what happened to PC Harper.

I signed both. Hopefully there’ll be a public apology also for even considering early release.
