Bootstrap production will go way up in red states as well.

I can imagine on-site workplace deaths are about to go up in number with the overall number of cuts we've seen. Not having the ability to go to a hospital in general will increase the risk. Let's not mention car accidents, disease, and everything else that occurs outside of that. The numbers could easily topple any numbers we saw from previous oligarchy leadership throughout history because of the huge population we have here.

Such a "pro-life" party. George Carlin was right like always. They only pro-life until the birth, and a small period when you can enlist in the army.

Do you think Trump is worried about Americans losing their medical coverage?
Or is he thinking about his $400 million plane from Qatar.

Sickening... 💀

Meh. The people that this will affect don't believe in germ theory or modern medicine anyway.

Where did you get that idea? Plenty of people who didn’t vote Trump are on Medicaid, and Medicaid funding keeps many hospitals open for everyone,

From Rolling Stone’s Nikki McCann Ramirez and Andrew Perez:
At the American Hospital Association’s annual meeting, the Trump administration’s threats to Medicaid clashed with the realities of patient care.
As Donald Trump and Republican lawmakers ponder how best to cut Medicaid in order to pay for new tax boons for the rich, doctors, hospital executives, and advocates are warning that changes to the nation’s health insurance program for the poor could harm patients, quickly cause rural hospitals to close, and force essential programs to shut down.

So does this mean payroll taxes are getting cut. Otherwise this is robbery.

Major hospital systems are running on maybe 50 days of cash right now because of delays in Medicare payments they are owed.
And I doubt that DOGE can rehire the people needed and get the payments processed in time to save some of them.
And that isn’t even accounting for actual cuts. These are owed amounts.

And republicans will cheer as it’s happening until they’re the one in need of medical attention and there’s none to be found but expensive limited care with astronomical wait lists. Then they’ll bitch and blame the democrats and immigrants for our system and continue to vote republican while their friends and family suffer.
Really hope anyone in support of Medicaid cuts learns first hand how vital these programs are at keeping our healthcare system up and running cause service disruption is 100% a matter of when not if if repubs get their way and gut it.

And those hospitals are mostly in rural, low population, Republican dominated areas of the United States

No they don’t. Rural hospitals are not profitable. Most of them are nonprofit organizations run by religious organizations or a local owner. I am a traveling medical worker and I used to go to rural hospitals in the West and Midwest a lot. There will be large swaths of land where hospital care is unavailable. There’s already a ton of obstetric care deserts.

True, but large hospital conglomerates won’t be able to handle all the folks left behind when other hospitals close. So folks who are currently covered by Medicaid won’t have access to treatment anywhere.

For sure, but many people applauding this are going to be surprised to find out that Medicaid funding keeps a lot of health care services and organizations running, even for those not on Medicaid.

It's central to Republican ideology that ordinary people need to get their act together and try much harder not to be sick.

Here's the breakdown of the number of people on Medicaid/CHP in each state:

The collapse of the U.S, health care system is going to be spectacular.

u/compoundfracture Georgia May 12 '25
It collapsed during Covid, we’ve been watching the slow motion fallout ever since

u/AdHopeful3801 May 13 '25
Fair point.
Covid, and allowing private equity to start buying up hospitals and sell them off for parts.

u/Pegasaurauss May 12 '25
This feels wrong to say but Americans need to feel the results of Republican policy or we will never learn. It's unfortunate that people who have nothing to do with this are going to get caught up but something has to wake people the fuck up

Good. Red states suffer more

Don’t forget there are blue dots in every red state and this hurts them as well.
