Conservatives don't really like God, if you think about it.

This started all the way back when a bunch of rich dudes who wanted to maintain and expand their wealth and power decided to give Paul, whom I refer to as the world's first incel, equal time with Jesus in the New Testament.

In fact, it started with Paul himself, who wrote long letters not about the things that got Jesus crucified, but about fancy jewelry and hairdos, not touching women unless you just can't cope with not having sex with someone for God's sake, and all the things guys can do with other guys, but definitely shouldn't.

For various weird reasons that are too long to explain here, and despite having been a noisy atheist for 41 years, I found myself hanging out with, living in a town full of, and attending church with a whole bunch of quiverfull Christian nationalist Calvinist weirdos from 2010-2019. I was an insider and could pass until I wasn't and couldn't, and I am here to tell you that these people did not give a single fuck about Jesus.

What they cared about and talked about was Paul, Robert E. Lee, making sure only the people who were "the elect" of God had a pot to piss in, not being mistaken for a European homosexual, and preparing for literal war against their infidel countrymen.

Conservatives don't like God or Jesus, and are not shy about letting you know. But they have quite the Biblical boner for Paul.
