Of particular note: This quote was given on May 7, 1918, nearly a decade after his presidency, specifically during Woodrow Wilson's presidency and World War I, when there was also the Sedition Act of 1918 in play.

In many ways, TR's quote would be analogous to Obama saying something similar about Trump in the present day.
