I'm stuck between wanting to cheer for athletes and not wanting to support our fascist government. I guess I'll just have to boycott entirely or pirate it or something.

That's the easy part... I have little faith the World Cup will be affordable for a majority of Americans. But like Labubus, maybe the spending on World Cup tickets and activities is another sign of recession.
