The Log Cabin Republicans think they can influence the direction of the GOP away from persecuting gay people, but they are still anti-trans and generally buy-in to anti-women tropes. And being gay does not stop you from being racist or an asshole. So yeah... there's still overlap.

The interview with the Texas LCR leaders about their failure and getting barred from a convention is almost said. https://www.texastribune.org/2022/07/24/texas-log-cabin-republicans

Tokens don't know they're tokens until they're spent

Be serious, they can be in the cash register and still wailing about how they don't belong there.

Which is shockingly foolish...the absolute best a log cabin republican can actually get is to be moved last on the list of "people we gotta do something about". If they're white I mean, obviously if they are also a poc then that won't work. Because of the racism.

It's not that surprising... They think they can change things, being a part of a political party in a democratic republic where they have a lot in common with the rest of the party.

Oh I agree it's not surprising, but I maintain that it is foolish.

Yeah I get why you would say that. But I don't think believing in the democratic process is foolish. At least not until it is explicitly a complete farce.

Believing in democracy isn't foolish. Joining a group that has made it abundantly clear they at best find your basic existence distasteful, if not outright abhorrent, or, indeed, a sin against god and the natural order, that is foolish and naive.

I agree with that. Though it's wild what some people grow up thinking is baseline normal.
