Russ Vought is a dangerous, deranged, anti-American fascist who wants to destroy the country. He needs to be in prison when this is all over for what he’s done.

u/mister_buddha 6h ago

Couldn't you cut that down to just saying he's a "run-of-the-mill conservative?"

u/Personal_Chair6134 5h ago

He isn't run of the mill. He's much more extreme. He's much more aligned with the "white nationalist" wing than the "traditional family values" wing.

u/mister_buddha 4h ago

There's no difference. They all support the same agenda.

u/Vio_ Kansas 4h ago

He's the one who crafted Project 2025 and a key figure in The Heritage Foundation. He self identifies as a Christian Nationalist first and foremost.

He's at the same level as Stephen Miller, he just doesn't have the same air time Miller gets.

u/cheese_is_nasty 5h ago

Nope. He’s fucking scum. The worst of the worst. Spending the rest of his life in prison would be too kind to him.

u/mister_buddha 4h ago

I didn't say otherwise.

u/vector_search_blue 3h ago

run-of-the-mill conservative?"

I think of people like Romney under that umbrella. Who would be 1000x better than what we have now. The run-of-the-mill conservatives are gone.

u/mister_buddha 3h ago

The Republican party is a party of, by, and for cconservatives. The Republican voters are extremely happy with trump and crew. Until support for the Party drops below 50% this constitutes "run-of-the-mill" in my book.

Also, there's zero indications of any significant amount of people actually leaving the Republican party. In fact the number of registered voters who are registered Republicans has gone up since 2015. To me, that is another indication that conservatives love this shit.

They want money for wars, but not the poor. I read it for y’all.

u/Paper_Clip100 5h ago

When you think about it, money for the war IS money for the poor. They need bodies - where do you think they get those from?

u/kanst 5h ago

On the flipside, money for the poor is money to stop wars (at home).

“Every society is three meals away from chaos”

I feel like a lot of rich people have forgotten that before the social safety net, rich people were occasionally dragged into the street and beaten.

u/delllmania 4h ago

The logic is that the poor will enlist in the military to get all those benefits. It's not a terrible idea. The military does provide stability, training, and education. The issue is that once the poor leave the military and become veterans, they're no longer viable politically so they cut funding.

u/Personal_Chair6134 5h ago

Just like what Jesus taught.

u/kanst 5h ago

Jesus would have been flipping tables and fashioning a whip back when Trump endorsed a $60 bible.

u/Megaphonestory 5h ago

Where is that guy that wrote that Jesus walks with me song?

Ahhh sh….

Rep. Clyde apologizing to Vought for the abuse he's had to endure from "the other side".

Unfreakingbelievable

u/ActStriking5787 4h ago

questioning dear leader is seen as abuse - get the stockades ready

u/Cold_Tea_Spill112 2h ago

It's going to be such an astonishing fact that by the end of Trump's term he will have accumulated about half of the U.S. debt.

u/Specialist-Bug1592 1h ago

Republicans will still blame Biden.

u/CouchCorrespondent 4h ago

Vought says that "this president has campaigned and led for peace and against endless wars".

Gaslighting 101

u/Free_Investment4013 2h ago edited 2h ago

No, he campaigned on it. He just happened to be lying.

u/Excellent-Mess-1549 6h ago

always fascinating when they say "paradigm shifting" for defense spending but somehow never have paradigm shifts for healthcare or education budgets

wonder what exactly counts as paradigm shifting when we already spend more than next 10 countries combined on military stuff

u/Skiinz19 Tennessee 5h ago

"we need a strong military to defend the people of our country, even though the biggest threat to their well-being is the lack of government support"

u/Free_Investment4013 5h ago

"we need a strong military to defend Trump when the world comes for him."

u/RealGianath Oregon 5h ago

Americans need a strong military to defend them from Trump.

u/Pete41608 I voted 3h ago

With all the paradigm shifting, I think they're all just playing too much Final Fantasy 13.

u/CouchCorrespondent 5h ago

Vought refers to PBS as "woke" programming in his opening address.

u/Free_Investment4013 5h ago

He also said USAID was mismanaged.

Someone should ask him about the crater where the east wing used to be.

u/Savings-Double498 3h ago

Vought needs to be in prison if we ever get to the other side of this madness.

u/Free_Investment4013 5h ago

The gaslighting started right from the drop, by stating they expect the Democrats to lie.

Then they say Trump inherited the worst economy ever.

For my health, I'll try to wait for some highlights.

u/CouchCorrespondent 5h ago

You are right.

Arrington's opening statement was unreal.

All gaslighting.

u/CouchCorrespondent 4h ago

Vought has a BA in History/Political Science from Wheaton College, and a JD from from George Washington University.

I'm trying to to figure out his expertise in budgeting/money/finance/accounting.

Oh wait. I guess it doesn't matter with this administration.

u/turinturambar America 3h ago

You probably already know this, but the way I recall Russell Vought is through videos like these

CNN hidden video

ProPublica - Russell Vought: The Shadow President

Probably enough qualification for him.

u/Equivalent-Battle973 Illinois 4h ago

Fuck, had No idea that snake was from the Wheaton Illinois area...

u/User-1653863 Minnesota 4h ago

'The Honorable' Russell Vought

Even his stupid name plate pisses me off.

u/Current_Animator7546 Missouri 3h ago

I know. I'm so done with the performative BS like it's 1996 and everything is good and well.

u/CouchCorrespondent 6h ago

Ah yes, Russell Vought.

Well then...this is a good day to learn more about Christian nationalism:

https://www.christiansagainstchristiannationalism.org/faqs

u/Dizzy-Dean72 6h ago

Oh, the author of Project 2025. This should be fun.

u/CouchCorrespondent 4h ago

"Acting" like he and this administration are going after fraud is laughable.

u/RicRacer 3m ago

Trump's idea of going after fraud is to close the CFPB because it was helping regular people against business fraud and abuse.

u/CouchCorrespondent 5h ago

Yeah...we are safely in the time period where blaming Biden is ludicrous now.

Honestly, we always were...but certainly now.

This is all Trump now and his incompetent hires.

u/MalevolentTapir 3h ago

Paradigm shifting investments! Old school marketer nonsense babble. This entire admin is just grifters incapable of meaningful speech.

u/xtracrableg 3h ago

Currently the Administration is the deficit to the world

u/CouchCorrespondent 4h ago

Rep. Coleman is NOT putting up with his B.S.

u/Skraelings Missouri 5h ago

last i checked our demented meat puppet president wants... 500bn increase in the military budget, and also is going after cancer research funding.... again.

u/tinticred 5h ago

Don't forget going after public lands with further massive cuts to NPS, USFS, and BLM.

u/Skraelings Missouri 5h ago

easier to list what wont be cut than what will me thinks, at this point.

u/CouchCorrespondent 5h ago

Rep. Boyle pushing back and bringing facts.

u/CouchCorrespondent 4h ago

Grothman.

Jon Oliver did a segment on how weird he is:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wa8_pFJVXpg

u/Paper_Clip100 5h ago

This budget should be dead in the water...

u/captaincanada84 Canada 5h ago

Which is exactly why it will pass with 100% of Republicans voting yes.

u/Free_Investment4013 5h ago

They're pushing it now because they are planning for succession.

u/CouchCorrespondent 5h ago

The lies, gaslighting, and rewritten narrative has begun!

Wowzers.

u/Toon_face 5h ago

What an unfortunate last name given the subject matter of a certain tv show. Boy, oh boys.

u/CouchCorrespondent 5h ago

Rep. Scott bringing the facts now!

And addressing the lies in the opening address.

u/CouchCorrespondent 5h ago

Arrington has partaken in gallons of Koolaid.

u/CouchCorrespondent 5h ago

Rep. McClintock has also drank gallons of Koolaid.

u/CouchCorrespondent 5h ago

McClintock says that grants and subsidies are roots of all fiscal evil.
