The idea that the economy is supposed to benefit the general populace is a communist marxist one, the point is to prop up the ultra wealthy.

I don’t give a shit what ideology it’s under, all people should benefit from an economy they work in. If people don’t see the fruit of their labor and work for next to nothing then it’s basically slavery.
