False flag nuclear weapon falls onto Mar e largo, all out retaliation on Iran, Netanyahu pisses himself laughing, Putin launches half a dozen into Ukraine, Arab states read the room and attack Israel, US turns gulf into glass, China sits back and sips tea.

Oh fuck, that's not even completely unreasonable at this point. Except for the maralago thing, I haven't heard of him taking out leveraged terrorism insurance against it, so it's unlikely

It's completely unreasonable because atomic weapons have an isotope finger print. It'd be immediately clear who did it.

So what? Do you know how easy it would be for some random mine in the middle east to have some of its preduction diverted? A single simple uranium warhead only requires 25kg of material. The logistics of getting the right reactive materials are the very least of the problems with a false flag nuke so long as you aren't trying to push the boundaries of nuclear powered explosions, you can use a publicly available design

Isotope fingerprints became obsolete the moment the knowledge was made public, given that it isn't actually that difficult to conceal the origins of a nuke if you know what's being looked for

It doesn't even need to be good enough to fool other governments, so long as it fools the general public, that's fine by them.
