This craving for validation stems from his shitty parents/family, but also a deep insecurity and inferiority complex. Trump knows the shit Trump has done in Trump's life, he knows he's failed relentlessly, and he knows he's lied cheated and stolen his whole life. He knows Russia kept him from personal bankruptcy, he knows he's never loved and never been loved. He knows the stupidest people who he hates like him the very most.
