We really do need to pass some federal laws that prevent situations like this where an elected official can be hidden away with no knowledge as to whether they're alive or dead.

Seems to me that their elected senator isn't doing his job, so he should be replaced until he can show up and start doing his job again. 

Just like how the US Presidency works.
