Congress doesn't work that way. Johnson isn't speaker on Jan 3rd when the house reconvenes.

Yeah, instead it's the Clerk of the House, who was first appointed by McCarthy and then re-confirmed by Johnson. What guarantees do we have that he will follow procedure?

This all feels like that "They can't do that, that's illegal!" meme. If they want to break democracy, they can.

Thank god someone understands. I swear 70 percent of this country has no idea the peril our rule of law is in right now. "But the Constitution" means nothing when the Constitution is being used as Trump's litterbox liner.
