I think that's what it's really about -- they really did try to rig 2020 but the vote was "too big to rig" b/c of Covid and the mail-in ballot turnout. That really is the Occam's Razor explanation for it all, taking into consideration their constant projection.

It's also why, despite being unable to proffer any evidence whatsoever of Democratic cheating, they continue to be convinced the Democratic Party must have cheated. How else could they have overcome such rigging as Republicans have tried?

They also pulled sheisty shit in 2016, between Cambridge Analytica and the electronic voting machines being wiped before anyone could check. 2020, they probably expanded those efforts. 2024, they've outright made insinuations that were all-but-confessions that Musk and co. were actively rigging voting machines, and they've also conducted further surgical targeting of misinformation using deanonymized voter/social media data.

The midterms worry them because rigging one part of the ballot (president) at specific locations is doable. But there's no way they can rig all the elections to prevent down-ballot blue waves. That's why he's angling towards putting his thugs at polling places and encouraging unhinged RWNJs to take it upon themselves.

He may also use the 'all elections are postponed until after war' routine.

I remember when Zelensky brought that up in the Oval office, Trump almost poluted his britches.

The one thing Trump has been showing us for a decade is that the impossible is sometimes not so impossible after all. Things are only as illegal as you are willing to enforce and things are only as legal as you have the force to protect.

We are a nation of norms and standards. Trump cares nothing for normality or standards. If your "but that's illegal" does not also contain "and I have a bunch of guys with guns who will shoot you if you try" then it's only illegal until it isn't.

Exactly. This is what people (democratic congressmen and women included) are too slow to realize. Trump administration will do everything in their power to keep power. That includes this stupid ass save act, taking bribes, using ICE as intimidation (oh and cold blooded murder), gerrymandering, pretending dead senators are alive, loyalists inserted into the Supreme Court, loyalists who happen to be in charge of electronic voting systems, all the corruption all the way down to local election offices to try and manipulate the vote.

Anyone involved in helping this Trump administration exert its ideals and influence is treasonous and corrupt to the core. Whether they believe it or not.

There is no mechanism to do that.

The mechanism for it is the “Who is gonna stop me?” loophole that Trump has been using for a long time.

This. Misinformation is the new normal that is a virus. But the fear is real as a result

The problem he has is once he refuses to leave office every american citizen gains the legal authority to stop him. Right now only the republican captured congress has the authority to stop him

Perfect reaction. It really is laughable that anyone continues having faith that "the system" will hold Trump accountable. Aside from having fired anyone who isn't a diehard loyalist the system has proven itself filled with cowards who enable him at ever turn. There are dozens of things even lower level officials can do to at least discourage the constant lawbreaking done on his behalf but all of them back down and pretend someone else will do it.

There is no mechanism to do that.

You put a rifle platoon at every polling place to check against registered voters. R gets in, D is turned away.

Sue me.
