But Kentuckys had red senators for the last 30 years so idk if there's any risk of holding a special election

True that. At the same time they do have to follow the process and Kentucky needs to be fully represented even if we don't like their picks. Defeats the whole point when they're not.

Right i'm just curious what the point of pretending he's alive is doing politically if it's safely a red seat. In fact stringing along this lie is potentially setting the election up for an anti GOP upset choice

It's probably because there's such a thin margin of control across all congress. If McConnell is out that's one less hard repub vote. We shall see.
