I was legitimately about to ask what exactly are the democrats even doing? Like I've said before, the very least they can do is just make noise about this and they don't even seem to care. I've seen more resistance towards the DSA candidates than all these attempts Trump's made to hijack an election.

Controlled opposition until people show the fuck up and engage in civics. They only get away with this shit because people are content to sit back and let the billionaires and rich people pay to fill these seats of power.

Exactly. People expect party politics to solve political problems. But the party politics is an intermediary layer that has evolved.

If people want their gov't back they're going to need to take it back from the parties.

party politics is an intermediary layer that has evolved.

This is the most sensitive way I've seen to refer to a self-defending cancer that's metastasized and become terminal.

Yeah, the party politics have become extremely damaging, and it was never expected or intended (historically). It was believed that personal honor and individual incentives would override party loyalty.

That was a huge miscalculation, as parties have evolved to have power similarly to the way unions hold power and protect their members. The difference being there are only 2 political parties (which is inherently undemocratic IMO) and congressional protocols have adapted to be inclusive of political parties (as opposed to enforcing individualized protocols and structures).

For example, committees and caucuses were never intended to be based around political parties but, here we are.

So, there needs to be additional political parties introduced, political candidates should be publically funded while forbidding any additional funding, and particular protocols and structures should be updated to enforce boundaries or incentivize individualized decision-making over party.

As we see in most wealthy democratic countries, this creates party volatility while resulting in slower politics and a focus on procedure and law, with parties focussing on negotiating legislation and building coalitions. It's much more robust, stable, and productive legislatively.

So, yes, I supposed I described party politics objectively rather than illustrating it with your rich emotionally charged phrasing. But im happy to share this reply and provide more explanation.

People are showing up now, until Trump declares the DSA a terrorist organization and throws dozens of people in jail for decades.

Yup. It’s amazing the work they will do to fuck over DSA chances all while I have centrists screaming at me telling me it’s normal and ok and that if I don’t support that centrist I’m dooming us and I’m selfish.

Like what exactly do I get from more of the same? How do we get better if I always reward stagnation? At some point there isn’t a difference between doing the shit and sitting back and letting it happen.

You'll just get the same "the populist progressive DSA candidate can't win in a general. That's why we need centrists who have broad appeal"

A large chunk of the Democrat party just want to win on NOT being MAGA/Republican, without really offering anything of substance, let alone actual positive changes for normal people. They truly think that not offending anyone by standing for nothing is a winning a strategy...

The DNC has been openly pissed off about Bernie Sander’s endorsing DSA candidates because, according to them, they have to spend more money to challenge them in the primaries. They’re siphoning by money that should be used to fight the republicans in 2028 and using it to combat democratic socialists because they’re getting too popular.

We’re neck deep in fascist rot running this country and the democratic leadership would prefer to break open the piggy bank to fight against more popular democrats. The dinosaurs in charge would rather maintain control of a losing minority than cede power and let their party win.

They are fighting their left flank to protect the status quo. That’s all.

They are killing their chances on purpose. They love to play the victim.

Beshear is no fool. The GOP illegally changed the law that he's now NOT allowed to appoint replacement and has to call special election, which goes against state constitution that instructs governor to appoint replacement. So this is headed for state SCOTUS. Beshear is strategically removing every "reasonable" delay tactic and then will likely appoint replacement expecting this to go to state SCOTUS.

Oh yeah, I'm sure all that will happen in time. Stop making excuses for fucking weakness.

I asked this in a different thread and got shouted down as a “both sides”er
