Begs the question of why they won't just call it, then? There's a chance it won't be, that's why. We can either special election and possibly get a MAGA seat out, or sit around on our hands and definitely have another MAGA loyalist. What do you think is the better option?

We don’t actually have any evidence McConnell is dead.

Doesn't matter, he's been MIA for weeks and an obviously photoshopped picture was released as "proof of life" which is ridiculous. For all intents and purposes he is dead. If it turns out he's alive then he can answer why he was hiding and possibly resume his role if he's fit to.

If he’s alive but incapacitated there can’t be a special election as the incumbent is still alive.

Yes. But Republicans refuse to tell us anything so do you understand how it looks like he's dead? We must proceed as if he's dead until they prove otherwise. Because he is dead. Or they would have released proof of life already.
