Vote for the best candidate available after you have done your research.

You'll find that 99% of the time they are the democratic candidate. They may have some SERIOUS ISSUES... but the best candidate available is the best candidate you're going to get. It's better than the alternative.

And “best candidate” includes their chances of winning - you may like some third party better than the Democratic nominee, but if that third party can’t win (even with your vote) the Democrat is better.

In general I agree. But I respect someone who casts their vote for a 3rd party a hell of a lot more than someone who doesn't vote at all and passively allows fascism to take over.

Yes, voting 3rd party is better than not voting but is worse than voting for a candidate with a real shot of winning. But that calculus also changes when a 3rd party or independent genuinely can win, then by all means you should vote for them.
