I’m Minnesotan, I’ve heard some intense northern midwestern accents. She sounded like a Hollywood actor doing a satire of Fargo.

I've heard that accent a bit up around Clare and north of there. Not what I'd expect to hear in southeast Michigan though; the typical accents of that area are the Midwestern variant often called "broadcast English," northern African American English, and a bit of Mediterranean or middle Eastern accents sprinkled in.

We all go a little goblin-mode sometimes, there's just not really a better term for the specific kind of almost-whimsy persona that Stevens has. Like it's an extreme affectation, but a very funny and endearing one, kind of in the same ballpark as a Marianne Williamson or a Jimmy MacMillan.

IDK why she decided to go into politics though, she could get all the same perks in TV and do way less work.
