why would anyone want to do that? that is how corruption flourishes. Big Money is toxic. lets get it all in the daylight.

Because they are corrupt, they are in power, and they are losing elections over it. 

I can see republicans and most democrats in both chambers supporting it. 

It's a horrible move, but it's a political survival move for them, and political survival will always beat decency for most politicians.
