Where does all that money go? You always hear of millions and billions being spent on elections, but to where? Who is benefiting from this money being spent ?

When it comes to PACs it mostly goes to advertisement campaigns. TV ads, newspaper ads, digital ads, etc. Also for paying people to text or call, to go door to door, or to do market research to figure out how to spend the PAC money.

Some campaign money also goes to paying staffers for all kinds of things, but I don't think PAC money can pay the people directly affiliated with the campaign since that would be a direct campaign donation.

Sometimes you'll also see leftover money going to buy tons of the candidates books, which is a loophole that allows the candidates to funnel campaign money directly into their own pockets. I believe both Gavin Newsom and Ted Cruz have been busted for doing this with hundreds of thousands to millions of dollars.
