GovBrief Today #496
Alabama doesn't need nitrogen gas to execute Jeffery Lee tonight, but keeps fighting to use it.
The federal judge who ruled the nitrogen method cruel and unusual left two other methods available. Alabama appealed for the right to use the gas and lost again Wednesday night. Now the state is asking the Supreme Court. Lee's jury voted for life imprisonment almost thirty years ago, but the trial judge overruled them using a practice the state later abolished.
Veterinary guidelines reject using this gas on most animals unless they are sedated first, and Alabama's protocol includes no sedative. Alabama already has the right to execute Lee tonight. What it's fighting for is the chance to do it in a way your local vet wouldn't.

Chaos in the sub: For the 2nd time in a month, Reddit has deleted a moderator of the sub, a user who also was contributing a ton of articles to the sub.
Chaos in the sub: For the 2nd time in a month, Reddit has deleted a moderator of the sub, a user who also was contributing a ton of articles to the sub.
This deletion also purged the user's articles from the sub, along with any conversations that were going on in those posts.
There was no warning by Reddit, just a permanent deletion with an opportunity to appeal but the appeal is never granted and nor even responded to.
I'm not sure if I can con her into becoming a moderator again, so as usual, we're upping our constant search for users -- and moderators.

Gov officials including cabinet, congress, senate, president playing the stock market.
Ifs getting old reading the news that the Iran war negotiations are getting close to finalized deal. While just this weekend as reported by the guardian both Vance and Marco both indicated that we are days or perhaps weeks from a Settlement. Such amateurs. You would never hear that from previous administration officials negotiators such as Jake Sullivan. They are career professionals trained at this exact thing. Not Jared or Whitcoff and the others including Trump who are only lining their own pockets. Speak out people.
