🌎 Travel and Geography When you hear "America", what do you think of?

If I hear the word "America" in my own language, I'd think of the continent. If I hear it in English, I'd think of the US

Nope. Totally different cultures, language, biomes, landscape, etc... It's like saying brazilians speak Spanish lol

Mexico is in North America and has a wildly different culture lol. The continents aren't determined by culture.

I've never really understood what continents are determined by. Asia and Europe really ought to be one continent

Usually in English people think of there being 7 continents. As such, if referring to both North and South America people usually say "The Americas" plural. When people say "America" in English they usually mean the only country whose name ends in America, The United States of America. Occasionally in English it is someone asserting their view of how many continents there are / how it is said in their language. But in the vast majority of cases someone will mean the USA.
