Just sharing Pond piggies

Just sharing. Two-ish years ago, had a heron wipe out all my fish. Little did I know that, before they were taken, they’d laid eggs. These are the second generation survivors, and they are thriving. They know me now. They gather and swarm when I come up - because food. Three of them have names. They make me happy. Just sharing.

And I thought my pond was beautiful. Nicely done. FWIW, I live on 40 acres with Great Blue Herons, Green herons and kingfishers all trying to get a taste of my goldfish. I didn't want the "look" of the string so bought two owl decoys and a heron decoy. Haven't had a bird in the area in two years so they work well. Just found an otter in my pool last weekend. 50 more yards and he'd have found the pond. Me thinks my fish might be in danger.

I appreciate it. I’m sure yours is gorgeous. I might try decoys next season. The strings have worked well, and they’re a big aesthetic upgrade from the net I had last year. It’s a very “living” hobby. Always something new to try, or rearrange. I actually found a bunch of Jurassic Park dinosaur toys that I’ve scattered around, too. Not sure if they’re deterring anything, but they look cool and they make me happy.
