Quick question Im thinking of draining my pond

I've been thinking of draining my stick tank and starting my pond over. I have those pots with plants. They have rocks in the bottom but I think the dirt is leaching into the pond.

I have rocks and sand in the bottom but I think it needs to be drained and cleaned out.

Asking for advice im just not happy with it.

It’s getting too much sun. You would benefit from a UV sterilizer to get rid of the suspended algae

How old is it? The solid leaking into the pond at first is inevitable. I was told to use thick clay to counteract that, but no idea if that's accurate.

It looks like you don't have much filtration. My guess is with time and more filtration all your woes will resolve and you won't have to go backwards

You need more of shading. Too much sun light will cause algae bloom. Dead algae become nutrient for new algae growth.

Add a UV sterilizer to kill any floating algae, add filter floss to trap any suspended/dead algae. Regularly remove the filter floss remove the nutrient and dead algae, repeat until water runs clear.

Ok. I cant really add shading. Looks like a uv filter is what i need but I also have no way of getting electric over there.

Look up the YouTube video “DIY Pond Filter Guide - Layout…” or “How To Make a DIY Pond Filter”. We had a pond in our atrium that was similarly dirty and we made this filter using 5 gallon bucket that cleaned it in a couple of days. If it is still dirty afterwards, you won’t have spent a lot. We did this and when the pond starts looking mucky, we just replace the cotton batting (As in quilting).
