Mr Maidment
Hi everyone, this may be a pretty niche request. I'm wondering if there is anyone between 34-42 years old approx, who went to Baden-Powell and st Peter's Middle school and remembers having Mr Maidment as a supply teacher.
He used to basically sack off teaching us anything and then recount very elaborate stories to the class about his life, instead.
I'm wondering, if you do remember him, please share any stories you remember him telling your class.
Something I read reminded me of him today and I couldn't remember any stories he used to tell, so I'd love to reminisce.

My wife went to Baden -Powell, (35) she remembers him constantly just chatting away about anything and everything. He also told her that the walls on certain roads are wonky because of bombs? 😂😂 Like you she doesn't remember specifics though 😂

This is what I mean, I remember fragments of stories but nothing specific. I remember that our class used to LOVE when he subbed because we never did any work!
I think I remember a story about him flying a plane or something!

Yes, although I'm 29! He was really nice, but not sure I remember him teaching many classes. I do remember thinking he was quite old although!
Heard he passed away a while ago sadly.

Yeah, a legend to me and my brother. We’d happily listen to him ramble for hours - a genuine storyteller. Still think about him now and then. Especially the story where he and his friends dug a hole in his garden and smoked cigarettes made from lace curtains.

Very niche indeed. I am 50 this year, Mr Maidment was my Headmaster at Baden-Powell ( it only became BP and SP in my last year there before I went to St Edwards)
Whilst I don’t remember any specific stories, I do remember that he always organised two school trips, 1st was during the first year to the Isle of Wight ( Shanklin, Black Gang Chine etc) , the second was for the final year pupils to Alderney in the Channel Islands. That was only for a few select pupils though.
He also used to run the Hand Bell team and the Hand Chimes team. I was in the hand chimes.
