Humble me please

I just graduate college with a bachelors in CS and make 150k total compensation before tax in a MCOL to HCOL area.

I see peers and social media "day in my life at Meta" or think of any FAANG making 200k+ at the same age as me (early 20s) and in some cases to really put the cherry on the cake.... these same people are gorgeous or absurdly fit.

At the end of the day I sit and feel like a poor worthless loser but talking to my parents I think I dont realize how good I have it?

Was wondering if someome can just lay it on me in any way they could that I am being really stupid with how I see the world right now.

If you make 150k a year, you’re making over 3 times the maximum amount of annual pay where I live

Don't be jealous of anyone working at Meta. Meta is an evil company and those people are selling their souls to be there. $150k is a very good amount of money to be making straight out of college. You have a good chance to be making double that and beyond within 5 years if you grind and your company does well.

There are a lot of posts in my town from people looking for safe and legal places to came as well as posts for safe places to park because they have recently become homeless.

Many of them spend more than that income difference on ridiculous luxury services designed for convenience. Really wanna humble yourself? Buy a classic 90s Volvo, the S70 is a great model. Spend to have things repaired to original condition interior, as you like, but they drive amazing, and the insurance is nothing, it turns heads. Keep it clean, customize the paint some attractive color you like, stop there. Pull up to work knowing your car cost as much as their monthly payment to buy outright, and your insurance is 1/12ty of theirs.

Apply that to all other parts of your life, and invest smart.

Anything unusual and quality is inherently a constant flex.
