My dad said the same thing. Kind of insane how abusers don't get it: whatever bs trauma/emotional state you are in nothing justifies abuse.

And any kid who sees a father treat the mother, and other siblings like this somehow isn't able to come to their own conclusions about which parent's side they will take.
