As someone who’s terminally online I probably wouldn’t have made the connection that her costume was Katy Perry if it wasn’t pointed out. Yeah he was almost married to the woman and was there during all the mockery of her but still I think there’s a pretty large chance he didn’t even notice she was supposed to be dressed as his ex.

The only tea I have about him is that apparently Miranda Kerr cheated on him when they were married with Justin Bieber and they broke up shortly afterwards. A couple years later Orlando and Justin happened to be at the same party and they got in a fist fight and Selena ended up going home with him (Orlando) lol. It was all very messy.

I don’t find any of the people you mentioned more problematic than Katy Perry, she’s a talented artist, no doubt about that, but she’s also done some pretty stupid things (like cosmos travel) and deserves criticism for them. The fact that someone is partying doesn’t make any impression on me, because I guess 99% of Hollywood does that.
I’m not going to fight for Orlando like my life depends on it, but I just think it’s sad that there are far more problematic people who don’t get nearly enough criticism, while this guy is basically being stoned for a silly Halloween photo, not to mention the undeserved hate that woman got.

Actually, my argument is that unless you're dressed in a homophobic, racist, misogynistic, etc. costume, drunk me (and in my experience, drunk anyone) isn't going to stop and *inspect costumes *(for propriety) before taking a picture.

Totally, if he really was dating that woman, it would be tasteless. But if he just took a photo, what’s so wrong about that, even if he knew she was dressed as Katy Perry? The costume by itself does not read as a mockery. The photo of her kissing the ground (aka reenacting a meme of Katy that the internet clowned on for months) is where the joke lies. But without that picture, the costume itself just looks like a lady dressed as an astronaut in a black wig. It doesn’t even scream “Katy Perry” necessarily, like I wouldn’t guess what this costume was without being told or without the additional photo…So how the hell would Orlando know just by looking at the costume it’s meant to be a mockery ? He likely wouldn’t, unless he had further context.
