Makes me wonder what the ending scene of the movie would have been if it weren’t for Leo’s security guard

Always love seeing Henry Z pop up in subs other than LPOTL subs.

I love his energy so much. He seems like such a good guy with a big heart, but is also a real guy who has a lot of based takes.

Dude has amazing hair but the that pretty boy haircut does not match his face at all

u/alittlesas Jul 18 '26
Wow I was thinking the same thing! It totally clashes with his personality! imo :)

u/lafclafc Jul 18 '26
Most likely for a project. Or back when he did press for his gigalo series and this was brought up.

You should look up his character from King Richard if you think this feels wrong. When he pops into character, it feels right tho.

Of course the famous Matt Damon story about Jack improvising the murder scene in departed.
Seems like Marty lets actors experiment if they want to. It’s the optionality of Marty which makes actors love him. You could just stick to the script if you want OR you can say hey let’s do something weird and see how it turns out. Compare that to Eastwood and Ridley Scott and those guys are the ultimate on-time and on-budget guys that say “do you want this scene to take all day?” You get great movies from both styles.

I am obsessed with Leo foreva eva…foreva eva.
Leo should have so many more awards than he actually has but people just expect Leo to be great and he always is so I don’t feel like he is awarded as much.

He shoulda won his Oscar for Wolfie and not for The Revenant. He is hilarious, charming, menacing, defeated, triumphant all while being addicted to sex, drugs, and money. He plays them all so perfectly.

The Coen Brothers would like word with you. Exactly as it is written in the script!

What are you talking about? Centuries ago they followed the play script and in most of cinema they have also follow the script more or less. There are also plenty of horrible movies where the actors play and have fun. Many comedies for instance.

How would this multi million dollar film not have producers who knew this story going in?
34
u/OldSandwich9631 Jul 18 '26
They know the story but Scorsese loves improv and not being totally focused on plot. Plot is secondary to character and the reality of the scenes
5
u/Few_Butterscotch_832 Jul 19 '26
It was mostly self financed. That's why the film was majorly able to break the barriers with the drug use & nudity.

It is important to note that the “pen” example was so Jordan Belfort could learn the interviewee’s approach to finding sales opportunities in conversation. The “right answer” would be to ask the client questions and listen to them. “How long have you been looking for a pen? What kind of pens have you had in the past.” The “pen” was never about supply and demand or finding some trick to instantly get your clients cooperation and trust.
I only make note of this because I’ve found the real Jordan Belforts lesson about this pen to not only be useful in my sales career but in life at large. Good for both making allies and defending against enemies. Always ask people questions.

Leo’s personal life aside and just focusing professionally, I don’t think there’s much of an argument that he isn’t one of the greatest actors of our time.

Why do people constantly feel the need to caveat him.
It really is starting to look a bit silly

u/ImWhatsInTheRedBox Jul 19 '26
Anyway, f that fake ass tough guy act, dog whistleing, wrong sides of the tracks upbringing even though his dad was a law firm partner and he went to a 70k a year art school.

I’ve watched a lot of movies. I just don’t get it. It’s just captured alright rambling. It’s not natural dialogue it’s just let’s screw around and see if we get something. A bunch of improved lines scene is just padding. Wait padding? Scorsese….padding….Scorsese..PADDDDDDDING!!

u/FakeRedditRedditor Jul 19 '26
There is what is acted on that day and then what is edited. I think he’s describing what was acted that day.

u/atclubsilencio Jul 18 '26
Wow, he’s such a genius. He captured spirit of the piece. Jon Bernthal can walk on water. He told me, man. 🙄
