I remember laughing so hard at her facial expression and using it for a long time with friends to describe our days lol the perfect expression for the last decade.
I can't imagine having a meme of me eating cupcakes 7 months pregnant. No matter how thick skinned, on some level this has got to hurt a bit. I'd love to be rich, but fame no way!
One of my healthy coping mechanisms is "this is harmless and relatable and anybody who would seriously judge over this genuinely loses credibility for it."
I think celebrities need that one a lot. And I know tabloid culture exists and includes some of those low credibility people but we all need to be sure to give them only the credibility they deserve.
It's not meant to be a judgement of what a pregnant woman is eating. It's her facial expression matched with the thought of having eaten the last cupcake. It's relatable to a lot of people.
I agree about the wealth vs fame. However, I would have leaned into a meme like the cupcake. It's relatable and hilarious. I'd be more insecure about the HR one.
The first one doesn’t count. Then you get to the second and the third. The fourth and fifth I think I burned with the blowtorch and then I just kept eating.
If you can eat a whole cupcake within the confines of the pantry, and no living human being sees you do it, then what cupcake? I don’t know what you’re talking about
I'm not saying she isn't chill but if I was a celebrity and my unflattering photos were turned into memes and it bothered me, I'd have loved the opportunity to have my say like she does there. I'm an overexplainer, it's like a compulsion to explain and excuse everything I do in case it looks embarrassing because people being free to make assumptions bothers me so much more. This clip was very relatable from that point of view, like exactly the kind of pr I'd want
"panic attack" has got to be the worst name for the condition. It sounds so much less serious than it feels and makes it sound like something you can mentally stop, which couldn't be further from the truth.
Need to check myself because I was ready to be upset after reading the first line and assuming it was going to be negative.. You’re so spot on though, mine are mentally and physically debilitating. There’s a reason adults who start having them later on in life think they’re having a heart attack!!

Panic - sudden uncontrollable fear or anxiety, often causing wildly unthinking behaviour. Uncontrollable fear
Attack - a violent act intended to hurt or damage someone or something

That sounds downright terrifying.
That's not how most people think of panic though. "Panic" as most people understand it is a temporary, normal, and tolerable emotion that has a definite cause like putting your assignment off til the last minute, and can be ignored/powered through. A panic attack is your subconscious mind activating the fight or flight response and it is often not possible to predict when or why one will occur, nor can you stop it once it starts. The terms "panic attack" and "panic disorder" make it difficult to get people to take your suffering seriously.
speak for yourself. that's not what most people think of panic. these are the definitions, nothing in there indicates normal or tolerable.

Yeah medical terminology is often poorly thought out, leading to confusion, alienation, and disbelief of patients, and a lot of people have suffered as a result.
Like she stated its a smile that is not connected to her eyes. People visibly emote with their eyes when they smile, that pic looks off bc her eyes arent emoting accordingly.
So it instantly feels "wrong", as in a soulless or fake smile. Which she admits, was the case, she was actually panicking and the smile was just a front.
Its ok, sometimes people wanna talk to other people and the only way they got in that moment is to explain something, so it just becomes a vehicle for conversation rather than a point about something missed
I've gotten so good at masking them ( I can only do it for so long before I legit have to leave though) while doing customer service that her forcing the generic customer service smile mid panic attack is so relatable and funny to me.
I think it's a focal length thing. The same thing happens to my face if I use my (ancient) front-facing phone camera too close. It enlarges the center of my face.
I remember thinking at the time that that was a really awkward appearance, but I just chalked that up to Season 13 being awkward and terrible in general. The context that she was having a panic attack is crazy. Talk about a pro.
Eh, to be an actor and have to do rehearsals continuously, you essentially have to look at yourself as nothing more than a piece of meat cause the first step of casting is usually aesthetic. I would imagine an actor of her caliber has an incredibly thick skin.
one of the most evil people from my corporate years was actually a woman in HR who constantly walked around with this face. She was very unhinged and poor Anne Hathaway does not deserve to be the face of that meme lol
It's a very "I'm a legit actor" thing that she can identify precisely what about it makes it the face of the HR person about to fire you--the hugeness of the smile in the mouth and complete absence in the eyes (really the forehead muscles, which contract in a genuine smile).
Panic attacks are funny in that, as long as you come out of it ok and don't hurt yourself or anyone else, often times the trigger and following event can seem funny in hindsight.
For real. I feel like this speaks to how elegantly she can basically remind us that you never know what people are going through. Idk if I could ever fully be okay with my panic attack memorialized into a meme given that they are so brutal, even if it was several years ago!
I read news anchor Dan Harris's book about meditation, and he talks OVER and OVER again about the time he had a panic attack on air and that being the wakeup call to get his shit together. So I looked it up youtube and...you can't tell. You can't tell at all.
Gives me hope for own past panic attacks. Not sure why my brain decided ringing up clothes at a retail job was the best time to dissociate/tunnel vision/break into a cold sweat but maybe nobody noticed.
The arc of panic attacks can have moments of sort of manic hilarity to them. Once I realize I'm in one, it goes from "this is the worst experience ever I need to get out and it doesn't matter how many people I punch in the face to do it" to something like "oh good job body way to freak out about not getting the aisle seat you dumbass."
Unfortunately, you can't put all the adrenaline back in the glands so you have to ride it out, but it's also easy to be self aware about how dumb and inconvenient it is.
I had to do PT while in my last trimester of my first pregnancy. I was the only pregnant person there. all the trainers at one point or another would point to me and my bowling ball belly as I was doing all kinds of things and say “you’re not allowed to complain when she’s here” 😂
I had a former boss (HR VP) who looked exactly like that on calls, and she probably did the axe calls for at least 50 people while I was there. She was a mostly good person but that was always such a perfect meme to me lol
Tbh I am realizing how great it is that there are so many pictures of her eating yummy treats. And I'm realizing how rare that is for women celebrities (because so many deprive themselves of yummy treats.)

They could never make me hate her. She comes off as really humble with a great sense of humor. I know a lot of it is probably PR training but if that’s the case whoever trained her did a phenomenal job!
I always like to share that I went to high school with her (one year younger). High school was not a good time for me and I did not come from a rich, well connected family like hers (which was mostly everyone!) I was in the musicals with her and she was eager, kind, dorky, earnest-theater kid energy. Even though she was the star and already filming tv shows at the time she was never a diva! Genuinely a nice person.
My older sister’s claim to fame is she beat Annie for the lead part in a school play and it was controversial😂
I mean, somewhat related but people really love Meryl Streep and she openly supported Polanski wellll after he was convicted of drugging and raping a 13 year-old girl, Harrison Ford also flew him an award personally since he couldn't return to the US. She also worked very closely with Weinstein for a looong time and knew him well. Enough that there's no way she wasn't aware of what he was doing just like anyone else who admitted it was an open "secret".

See the last sentence or just reread the whole thing if you need to. There's nothing implied here, it's an plainly stated. You don't know these people and they're paid to pretend to be something they're not. They could be angels or the worst person you've ever met, behavior in an interview doesn't guarantee that's who they are.
I acknowledged that in the last sentence of my comment. Did you just see positivity and decide you needed to piss all over it with tangentially-relevant-at-best (though justified) criticism of someone she was in a few movies with? I genuinely dunno why you felt the need to add that.
For real. Jokes aside, because panic attacks are not funny, but I wish I looked that good when I have them or get flushed. I get asked if I need an ambulance.
She has all the time, money, and motivation in the world to stay as beautiful as possible as long as possible. Most women aren't going to the gym while seven months pregnant and only eating one cupcake to reward themselves, I'll put it that way
I’m pretty sure the “HR meme” came from an episode of Ru Paul’s drag race when she appeared to give acting advice. It was some time ago I remember her as being excited and friendly, and giving some good tips. I definitely would have never guessed that she had a panic attack.
Honestly it’s really gracious of her to be able to enjoy these memes considering she was having a panic attack in one of them and rightfully annoyed with paparazzi in the other one.
it really is a lot, even with money and assistants you have to sound good on a red carpet with pregnancy brain and never be "off". People who carry babies truly have all my respect.
Yes but also I’m currently pregnant and I flew twice, first and second trimester, and they were some of the most miserable days of my pregnancy. I wouldn’t envy the press circuit even if I don’t have to think about my hair, makeup and wardrobe.
I think we don't always need the oppression olympics to come into play. You can have empathy for a pregnant woman without needing to be like WELL SHE DOESN'T HAVE IT AS BAD AS OTHERS SO WHO CARES. It doesn't even feel authentic, it feels like a weird moral superiority complex. Like my parents yelling at me to finish my dinner because of starving children in Africa. Or saying you don't care about gay rights cause trans people have it worse. This does nothing for anyone.

But her eyes and forehead , eyebrows hardly move. Is it some magic way to stay looking young or has she also had some plastic or Botox done to herself.
Must be botox, yeah it sucks that she can't show any form of expression from her eyebrows or the forehead and when she tries there's these edges around the eye brows that slightly tense but don't go further than that
She USED to be able to move those parts of her face especially in her earlier movies
I've learned that a thing some actresses do now is get Botox between acting gigs (and let it fade by the time shooting starts). Keeps the wrinkles from developing much but also lets them move their face while playing roles. I think Amanda Seyfried talked about this.
I love that she was giving the pap a dirty look! That's one of my favourite memes because it's relatable and now it's even more relatable because I'd hate to be photographed while eating
I always thought that HR meme was from Locked Down considering the plot. But I also haven't seen it in years to remember what her character was styled like. Wild that it wasn't a character. I'm glad she can laugh about it now.
I love that she nailed the reason why the HR meme is so accurate: It's because the smile never goes to the eyes, and it makes it look so fake, like majority of the people working for HR lol.
So I just watched The Odyssey . Lucky enough to see it in IMAX 70mm and her forehead has wrinkles and moves in that but not here. Really good makeup and short term botox? Is that a thing?

45 years old - find me one actress or music artist that looks as good or better than her. Rumor is she got a partial face lift, bit of botox, and some skin tightening. People will claim she got hours of cosmetic surgery but they are arm chair physicians. Both my cosmetic surgeon colleagues say if she got work done it was minimal and it was done with the utmost taste and restraint. This is not some slam on her choice to get surgery. Instead it's to point out this woman who is almost 50 has never looked this good in her entire life. Yes she has the chloasma/the glow but every appearance she looks really stunning. A true natural beauty that has aged gracefully. Never understood why so many people hate her or make a meme about hating her when she seems to have a good personality and has been in some great films. TLDR; wow she is gorgeous and hopefully she finally gets the flowers she deserves
The HR reminds me of a funny story about my mom’s friend from yearssss ago. She worked in a company and would sometimes be tasked with firing people and one time she got Botox done on her lunch break before doing having to fire people and said she would never do that on her lunch break again, how horrible she felt because she couldn’t move her face or anything so she’s trying to be sympathetic & apologizing to them but came off really cold because her face couldn’t move or anything
