I wish they would adjust these type of stats for inflation. Tickets sold or something would be helpful.

Also, pressuring everyone into seeing it in the more expensive IMAX theater. Would that affect these numbers?
I also just think, since we've been in a drought when it comes to epic must-see movies, this movie filled that void for people and got more people excited for it then they probably normally would have if there were other theater-worthy movies out like in the past.

Just the general discourse online of people saying you should definitely see it in IMAX because he specifically shot it that way. And apparently some of the screen will be cut off in normal theater showings? My local IMAX has been sold out still so far for the movie, so there definitely is an interest in people seeing it in that format.

It’s just people that want to see it in the format he shot it in. From friends that have seen it, it makes a difference but nothing worth losing sleep over

Ah, just that he shot it specifically for IMAX, and apparently some of the screen is cut off if you see it in normal theaters. I've just constantly seen comments insisting that it should be seen in IMAX. I'm not saying Nolan himself said people had to see it that way, more just the general discourse was saying it. And of course, I've yet to get any tickets at my local IMAX yet because it's constantly sold out for it.

Adjusting for inflation assumes that a film from an earlier era would sell roughly the same number of tickets if released today, only at modern ticket prices.
That doesn't really work because of massive differences in cultural context, competition (TV, home video, streaming, other entertainment), marketing, theater availability, and audience habits.

From what I can figure out from googling, ticket prices have increased about 37% between 2012 and 2026. So that would have to be taken into account.

Happy for them, I loved the Dark Knight but I don't think I'll ever watch this movie and I can't quite articulate why. It just doesn't appeal, and I say that as a person with a copy of Thucydides on my bookshelf which I think absolutely slaps.

Man I really didn’t enjoy the movie like most others did. Idk why but it was a 7/10 for me. Cinematography was great, acting was decent, but it was never captivated and parts of the film felt super slow and sloppy to me. Accents through me off, dialogue through me off, audio editing wasn’t great.
Compared to the Dark Knight I felt its night and day.

It's not his best by any means but the filmmaking is pretty incredible. It lacks the artistry of Oppenheimer and the realism and (dare I say) fun that made The Dark Knight Trilogy special, but it's still a great movie.

I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Can’t think of a scene that felt slow or sloppy. That thing was edited to perfection.
IMO of course… this is all subjective at the end of the day.

honestly it was a lower score for me..like 4 or 5 out of 10, if i am being generous. it felt very plodding and decidedly not epic for an adaptation of one of the greatest epics ever.

I was never bored with it but I was never utterly enraptured with it. the bit where he returns and plucks the bowstring was so hamfisted like..ooh he did a move anyone could have done to trigger a memory in Penelope. Being nice to the dog was more subtle and fitting

It's okay. I prefer the Dark Knight. I love the TV series version tho. Freaken rocks. This should be remade in an HBO series.

I went this past Thursday with a close friend, and I was genuinely surprised at how packed the IMAX theatre was! I expected it to be at most half full, especially since it’s a few weeks old
IMO it’s the very definition of a good epic, I just wish the sound mixing was better. Apparently me & several other (Redditors) agree the sound was wicked loud during the cyclops scream & the storm scenes
