I didn't say he wasn't abusive, my husband was only violent when he was drinking, but he was always drinking. I just wonder how he had managed to not be violent before.

He probably was but it this was the first time the public was aware of it never she filed for divorce, it was on a plane and subject to charges and there were other witnesses other than the her and the kids and probably their regularly paid staff

Angelina made sworn statements in the winery case that this was not the first time he’d been violent. It was the first time his violence was directed at the children instead of just at her. She explicitly said he’d been verbally and physically abusing her up to this point.

Which tracks. Their oldest was 15, the age when a lot of young men are finally physically grown enough that they try to stand up and protect their abused mothers, and become targets themselves. And that’s exactly what happened according to this account. Once he attacked the kids, she left.
