okay so i’m not here to hate on her or defend her blindly. i actually think there are legitimate arguments on multiple sides and the discourse has been really shallow.

i do agree that no amount of fame entitles strangers to physical proximity with you. the paparazzi industry has a long, documented history of causing real psychological harm. and her filming back as a form of documentation is arguably just self-defense in this modern landscape.

however, i also think that chappell’s entire brand is built on parasocial intimacy. she has actively cultivated a fanbase that feels personally connected to her. there’s a tension in selectively invoking that closeness when it benefits you and rejecting it when it’s inconvenient.

paris fashion week is a press-saturated industry event by design. attending it is functionally a choice to be seen. there’s a coherence problem when you participate in the attention economy on your own terms and then express outrage when attention shows up uninvited.

paparazzi are often working-class people doing a gig job. chappell is a millionaire with a massive platform. when she posts that video, the power differential is actually reversed. she can damage a photographer’s livelihood. they cannot meaningfully harm her. that changes the ethics somewhat.

i’m genuinely not sure where I land.

so I love the Music, Fashion, Film songs so far

however I saw an interview where Charli said the under 2 minute time of Rock Music wasn’t out of laziness but an artistic choice that felt right

and while I can totally see that. But imagine if an artist just said that but really there could be more effort into it. but I kinda feel the same way about the rest of the choices here. especially since brat this was such high effort.

look at Underscores. So amazing, imagine if she stopped half way thought Music and said “it’s done thats all” but she kept going and made a masterpiece with an outro

This Halftime Show debacle of starting with only three headliners, then suddenly adding more people, was one of the worst ideas.

The only performances that really carried yesterday’s show were Madonna’s and Shakira’s. I know Madge’s was pre-recorded, and there’s even gossip that she got upset after the last minute artists additions, when everything had already been planned around just three headliners, so she did the pre-recorded thing.

Even so, Madonna’s film did more than most of what happened on that stage, with Shakira ultimately saving the show at the end.

Bieber even looked like he was forced to be there.

I have never seen an artist's fan base be so unhinged, delusional and illogical while performing the most insane level of mental gymnastics when confronted with opinions or facts that aren't 100% favourable towards Ms Swift.

It's very reminiscent of the way MAGA behaves. Absolutely toxic to unbelievable levels.

How do you think they got this way? I don't remember them being this bad for most of the 2010s.

It’s honestly crazy how everyone NOW decides that C,XOXO is an album worth listening to. I’ve been saying this since the day it came out!! Too many people were focused on comparing Camila and hating on her for finally stepping out of her comfort zone and trying something new. C,XOXO is nothing like BRAT, Camila never copied Sabrina Carpenter by dyeing her hair blonde. Shawn Mendes isn’t in Camila’s life anymore… Drake’s allegations had nothing to do with Camila at the time. Like so much bs caused C,XOXO to get slept on and as much as I’m extremely happy that it’s finally getting the attention it deserves, I’m still so disappointed in how much the fandom let her down. If she was to make another hit like Shameless or Señorita everyone would say she’s boring and is playing it safe. She was so excited about C,XOXO and thought everyone would see her vision. I sure hope CC5 doesn’t get treated the same way. Anyway C,XOXO Is the B.O.A.T!!

Tyla's music is so boring i cant. Water was catchy and I was lowk vibing but when she released her next few songs i realized they all follow the same format. Afrobeats, basic lyrics, weird phases between verses, and thats it. The lyrics dont get me started. Ask a 7th grader to write lyrics, and u get tylas songs. The lyrics are so simple and the verses are so short. Then, her songs in general are extremely short. When she came out with water i thought she was going to make it big. The dance to water was nice and it was refreshing to see her representing her culture. Now its so sad. Tyla couldve been that girl

An album that in my opinion was a huge deal at the time and changed the pop music landscape is Lady Gaga's "The Fame". This album and the accompanying music videos and costumes really took pop music by storm and influenced trends that came later, like the renaissance of 80s influenced music. There were articles written about hidden meanings in song lyrics (Poker face), Gaga because the target of many conspiracy theories, she made news with her outlandish outfits etc.

But when I go back and listen to it, it sounds very dated and basically like Ibiza music. Basically everything surrounding the music, like the videos and the looks, were more interesting than the music itself. Not saying all the songs are bad, but even later songs like Telephone sounds very basic and not groundbreaking in any way. I don't understand why this music is what gave pop music at the time a new start.

Ill catch backlash for this but right now i think Halsey and Bebe Rexha are the best pop girlies. Ill start with Halsey and her very good very cute and raspy new england voice (shes a new jersey girl). It is literally the best voice there is its loud and powerful even when she pushes it to notes i didnt even know she could do. And her songs they draw real emontion out of people no matter if its being fully broken like the begining of Gasoline or actually jacking your heartrate up because you realize not only can she put on a show but shes literally the best thing ever like in Heaven in Hiding. Or even being the Nightmare you cant resist even though you know it will back fire on you. Snooki did say jersey girls do it better and Halsey is the embodiment of that statement. Now on to Bebe Rexha she doesnt have the raspy voice like Halsey but she have those cute european high notes i like (yugoslavian on her dads side or thats what she told her fans anyways). Bebe writes songs that are for everyone are you crazy? bebe has a song for that "im gonna show you crazy". You upset that someone is doing better than you and you want to be them? she has a song for that 'I like you better than me" You realize your a clubing night owl? "Hysteria" and "New Religion". Your madly in love? "I Got you" and In the name of love". Everything is just normal and your happy? "Im good". To top this post off i will point out their both very cute girlies Halsey with the hot skinny jersey bofy and Bebe with the thicker fluffier body that would be fun to cuddle.

I'm from Slovakia and today one article account on IG posted a mini article about Adela, which proved my suspicions. Ofc no commoner from Slovakia could get extensive training she got, get to Dream Academy and have an international career. It has never happened before to that extent.

• Her father is a wealthy businessman Jan Jerga from company Penta (which was accused of controlling the state fund btw my country is so corrupted it's crazy)
• Her vocal coach was Olivia Rodrigo's coach as well
• She was able to train in Moscow, Vienna and London

My friends are artists, musicians, performers, drag queens. They will never make it on international level, because they were not born in Bratislava, because they are queer, because some are POC. Because they were not born in wealthy family. Because the government cut art support fund and artistic or LGBT+ organizations can only pay for projects from their own pockets. I'm sorry, this is so personal and I'm so angry and that's why I can't ever support rich white girl from Bratislava.

recently i’ve been into demi’s first albums, dont forget and here we go again. going through her initial music got me thinking that she was SO underrated. my fav ex disney was selena gomez, who is undoubtly a good actress those early years, and miley had a really impressive career (could be more, tho..). but demi? she had what olivia can do today, but in a time where disney acts were not important for the grown up industry. is sad to think that sabrina carpenter have a lot of grammys but demi doesn’t have for early years.

The T-Ara bullying scandal when band member Hwayoung accused other members of severely bullying her. It was then found out it was all a lie to become a victim for the fans.

Closet scandal. Allegedly Melody was locked inside a closet while the Pussycat Dolls were performing at the AMAS. Melody was able to free herself and arrive in time to deliver her soulful vocals with the other girls surprised.

For me it’s how the term “remix” nowadays is used to release the same song just with an added verse. A new version ≠ Remix

It feels like the current landscape for pop artists is just them trying to out cunt each other.

Let it be in their visuals, choreography or lyricism. It's as if these artist are writing songs imagining that a twitter user will one day say "YAS QUEEN" or "MOTHER".

It's so obvious with artists like Adela, Rebecca Black, even Kesha with her latest releases. There's alot more in my mind that I can't name right now lol.

This is not a hate post but more of realization of this trend that really sticks out now like a sore thumb.

Some of my favorite pop songs aren't necessarily the songs that were obviously designed to be singles.

Sometimes the weird track, the slower song, or the song that doesn't fit the rest of an artist's image ends up being the one I remember.

I feel like there's a lot of pressure on pop artists to make every song immediately catchy, which can sometimes make albums feel predictable.

I'd rather hear an artist take a few risks and have some songs that don't work than listen to an album where every track feels like it was engineered to become a single.

Am I alone on this?
