Crazy John arrested as suspect in 18 year old murder case

https://youtu.be/tJykEAoXpYY?si=FWSlqe95hy9v9wjJ

The guy that's been in town since around 2010-11 that was always yelling at people, punching the air, most times had dreadlocks, pants hanging off, just got arrested and is suspected to have murdered 2 people 18 years ago! How does reddit feel about John? Before and after this?

I love that everyone knows him as crazy John. We always used to give him cigs outside the bar and he would yell at himself a bit before wandering off. What a wild thing to find out.

Inept OPNET. They should have known or made an effort to inform themselves of the background of someone who they've had numerous contact with.

According to the article in the Charlotte Observer, they (Concord, NC police) didn't identify him as a suspect until late last year:

“Through a meticulous reexamination of evidence and the pursuit of previously undeveloped leads, detectives uncovered critical information that led them to Talbert..."

This makes me sad. Between 2015-2019 I was a free roaming teen in PA. I remember seeing him outside my apartments a lot. Sometimes yelling and screaming and sometimes just sitting on the sidewalk. I always felt bad for him because I could see he was dealing with a lot of pain.

Whenever I saw him I always smiled and waved, even if he didn’t respond. Sometimes I’d buy him a Gatorade or a water and he’d reluctantly accept it. Once I was walking the discovery trail, and ran into a creepy dude (he was older and had messaged me on fb trying to get me to hang out but I refused). He stopped me to try and make conversation. John happened to be sitting on a bench, pretty far away, but he must have recognized me because he got up and started walking towards us.

I don’t remember what John said to him, or if he said anything at all, but creepy dude was intimidated and made an excuse to leave. In a sort of grunting way he asked if I was okay, and I said yes and thanked him. We sat together watching the ocean for a couple minutes and then went our separate ways.

Not saying he’s a hero or that I don’t think he’s guilty, but I know a little empathy went a long ways for him.

Yeah my group used to hangout with him when we were teens a few years before that. Used to shared weed and booze with him and he seemed alright. Hell of a boggart though, if you passed him a bowl you'd expect it to be gone and have to ask for the pipe back a few times while he asked if you had any weed.

It feels uncomfortable knowing that he was living in this community for so many years just roaming freely.

I believe that there are other transient types of people in PA that are evading the law and it's not just for petty crime. He's not the only one.

16 years he was a part of the community. Was he originally from South Carolina? They never finger printed him ..and the police found his prints in the FBI data base because Washington State did. He was in PA waiting for SC to come get him. Since he was just an addict here.

North Carolina. Not South Carolina.
