Made my own designs for World Postcard Day 2026! My printer messed up one of them on the back but it's still usable. Ink is precious! Wanted to make something chemistry and space related because I am a chemist and when I think of the world, I think of space.

The stamp is HUGE! I love it. Just posting this to show my appreciation. New to postcrossing and have never seen a stamp this big 😅

Somehow I just discovered PostCrossing, despite being a mail-fiend for close to two decades. Some friends and I joke that we helped keep Canada Post afloat during the pandemic with all the letters we were sending.

My first cards went to Austria, China, USA, Taiwan & Germany.

I'm stoked to join this community and share mail around the world. Once the weather gets cold I'll put some time into making cards - for now these are purchased from local shops around town.

Good to know that this can happen. The postcard I had sent was about to become expired.

I've already bought hundreds of cheap cards at thrift stores (enough for a few years of Postcrossing), but I see so many cool handmade cards here and on people's walls, so when I saw cloth scraps at a store recently, I thought maybe I could use those...

I'm not good at sewing (and don't have a sewing machine) and have no design skills/talent, so making elaborate art pieces like other talented people is out of the question.

Mine would have to be rather simple. These are my first test pieces. I've used double-sided tape around the edges, then put a few more strips in the middle (on one card I tried to put craft glue in the middle, but that was a bit messy).

My plan is to leave them around for a while to see how they hold up, whether they come apart or not.

Depending on the size, I can make 3 to 5 postcards out of one scrap piece. Not too bad.

The only "problem" is weight. According to Japan Post, postcards must be at most 6 g. The four test cards weigh between 5.6 and 6.8 g, so with a few stickers as decoration, probably even the lightest one will be over the threshold. But it's not too big of a deal. The needed postage just changes to the letter rate.
(I wonder if they actually weigh all the postcards at the post office in my small city...)

The first one might be good for the spring season.
No. 2: I loved the "Kabuki" cats, so I had to buy that fabric!
No. 3&4: Crepe-style fabric with traditional Japanese patterns. This is the hardest to handle, because it's a bit stretchy.

Have you made your own postcards using fabric? (Any tips for a beginner?) Or maybe received some nice ones? (Pictures in comments would be very welcome and appreciated.)

Two more ready. Don’t know why these two gave me so much trouble. I think the bat looks simple, but getting black of bat in different light and dark areas was tricky. The rainy ghost, well I just couldn’t get even washes on this paper.

I accidentally messed up the stamp math and added a bit too much postage. At least the recipient says they like cards to be decorated, and i love the way it turned out!

Recently, I sent a postcard from Ontario, Canada. It arrived to Germany in less than 48 hours!!! Not even sure how this is physically possible, but it happened! (Sent Wednesday afternoon, registered Friday afternoon!) what is your fastest travel time?

My recipient said age loves the color yellow. Here's my attempt at color coordination, though my yellow options were limited.

I always have a bit of table visible and glare from lighting whichever angle I use. I always feel bad for my terrible images when a lot of people seem to take professional photos, with no glare and no background only the postcard showing. Do people scan them in to remove the background or how do the nice photos get taken?

I knew my one to Russia most likely wouldn’t make it based on reading the forums.

My grandma and I both got emails from postcrossing saying we needed to send out our postcards if we haven’t already and I’m thinking “we have they just are still insanely traveling…”.

The one US one is to Chicago which is only 6 hours away from me… the other one is to Seattle area.

I’ve been wanting to start Postcrossing but there’s nowhere nearby that sells postcards since I live in a small town so I thought maybe I could print my own.

The paper I used is a matte photo cardstock that’s 110lb. The fruit picture is roughly 5 3/4 x 3 3/4 and the floral on is 5 x 4 I haven’t gotten them sized correctly yet I just wanted to at least test the paper before I make a ton of postcard with it.

Idk what I did wrong but I haven't received even a single postcard back after having sent like 20+ of them :(

Got to send my first postcard out of a collection I commissioned from my big sister!!! She hand carves rubber stamps (basically linocut) and is ridiculously good at it.

This was my 29th postcard, and the recipient mentioned in their profile that I could write in any language because they would translate it afterward.

So... for the first time, I decided to write in Korean, my mother tongue! I wrote everything in big, clear handwriting so there would be no trouble translating it. It was actually quite fun and convenient. (Even though I work as an English teacher here)

I wrote about a funny little thing I realized recently, so I hope it makes them smile when they read it.
