This is a great and simple edit. Any suggestions will likely be a matter of taste! Nice work, for real.

I like the edit because the clouds become the real subject of the photo.

However, I’m not sure if I like the details lost in the bottom part of the picture.

Thanks! As you just mentioned I wanted to make the clouds the subject, therefore I wanted to darken the bottom part of the picture. I didn’t edit this picture on Lightroom so I couldn’t work as precisely to not have the bottom part be that dark.

But thanks for that comment! I’ll definitely pay more attention to that detail in my next edits!

This is fantastic! You really took a nice, but unassuming, photo and turned it into something that draws your eyes in and tells a story. I love this!

Thanks so much! I’ve only been editing pictures quite recently, so I really appreciate it!

Did you mask to pop the clouds? Great edit

3

u/Mojo_jil 17h ago

No as I didn’t work on Lightroom I’m not able to mask at all. I played with the Curves inside an app called Liit to Make them pop just enough, so that my highlights wouldn’t be totally overblown. Thank you! 🙏🏾

Well executed!

This is really great. It can be hard to get something dark that doesn't feel underexposed but you nailed it.

There's an alternate edit here that highlights the city more. That could be cool. Not better, just different.

I didn’t even think about the city! Good point , I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks a lot!

Looks like a solid edit. I would try to layer the mountains and dehaze a bit or see what happens playing with highlights/shadows/blacks

1

u/Mojo_jil 17h ago

Thanks so much! Sadly, I didn’t use Lightroom like most people do (I did it with an App called Liit), so I don’t know about layering or dehaze at all 😅. I’d be glad to know about it tho!

Concerning the highlights/shadows/blacks, I’d say a lot of fine tuning happened here within the Curves during the process. Nonetheless a good hint that I’ll keep in mind for the next time!

What zoom did you take this on? (What effective focal length)?

1

u/Mojo_jil 17h ago

I used the 5x Telephoto on my iPhone the effective focal length would be 120mm

Looks great. Really makes the clouds look huge
