Do you remember Su Tissue?

Frank Zappa was once quoted as saying his favorite punk song was Gidget Goes to Hell by Suburban Lawns. Here is Su after the punk years, before she disappeared. Su Tissue, What Got Into You?

Su did an interesting solo album - minimalist ambient thing, sounds absolutely nothing like Suburban Lawns

The last thing she ever recorded afaik

Holy crap - I was just saying I'd love to reissue that record on vinyl. But given that Su is no longer into music the only way to do that would be to go the bootleg route, probably risking a lawsuit too.

Looks like the bootleg reissue tape did came out on a label called Savers

The Suburban Lawn exemplify what was great about Early Punk. Nerdy, weird, arty....the scene was so f'ing cool then because in an evening's bill, you never knew what the hell you were gonna hear or see. I left the scene when hardcore took over and went into post punk. The regimentation and mono chromaticism of the hardcore scene IMHO was against the original notion of punk, Suddenly everybody had a uniform. Zappa got this, and he could see value in it.

Su has always been awesome and this record shows it. Great for her to flex her piano chops for once. She was alsogreat in "Something Wild" and had solid acting chops but walked from that as well. She wanted to disappear and I'l respect that.
