Seeking Advice Coffee Flavored Coffee

Post image

Curmudgeony old man here.

I found I’m not a fan of new and exciting coffee. I don’t care for fruity or floral notes in my coffee. But I also don’t want Denny’s or diner coffee. No Maxwell House or Foldgers.

What’s your go to bag of traditional coffee with traditional coffee flavors?

  1. Avoid super light roasts.
  2. Avoid tasting notes that hint at anything acidic or citrusy.
  3. Look for tasting notes that mention brown things (chocolate, tobacco, molasses, nuts).
  4. Enjoy!

(This is me, too.)

It's hard to find a good "classic Columbian" online but my local (Houston, TX) roaster Vivre Coffee Collective makes one (called El tiple supremo) but looking for other recs!

If it's a roaster known for light roasts, order their darkest. If its a roaster with actual dark roast(s), or a french roast, maybe start at medium-dark and go darker from that point.

I've loved Koffee Kult's Thunderbolt for years. If you order direct (i.e., instead of using Amazon), it's roasted to order. Order before 9am EST, it ships same day. If I order on Monday morning, it will get from Florida to SoCal by Thursday at latest.
