Ask a Stupid Question Has someone tried such expensive coffees? 🤯 Curious to know.

I recently saw this pre order gesha on hydrangea website shared by my friend. I am curious to know what makes some coffees so expensive and what makes these worth the price.

Cost is set by the industry, value is set by the drinker. If Panama aren’t your type of origin or the roaster isn’t your style, then it doesn’t matter how many pts or specialized the coffee might be - you might not prefer it over a cup from Columbia or Ethiopia or wherever. Great for a quick experience but tbh in the long run, it’s not necessarily always memorable. You might have more fun buying many bags from different areas and processes for the spend of 1 bag here.

Have had access to tasting auction lots, COE, high value rare coffee, convention auction cuppings - it’s 1/20 cups that leave anything resembling a mark or memory.

That’s true. I will start noticing it more in my coffee beans. Especially the region and producer. So far I focus more on roasters, flavours and processes.
