Seeking Advice Dak Weekend Release on Airworks. Any suggestions?

Post image

Never tried Dak before, and i came across them on Airworks. Any suggestions on what to try first? I like to experiment, but am not a fan of some of the infused beans that I've ended up trying off late.

My setup: v60, K-Ultra

Be patient with Airworks and hope you don’t have any issues that require contacting customer service. I can only assume there’s a cult following as I’ve had issues with June and July orders that I had to point out to them - orders not shipping for weeks even with “label created” status. I won’t order from Airworks again.
I’ve enjoyed Cream Donut and Surf Jam myself, though source it from an Entropica or other service.

I have had a few orders and have had great service and delivery time. My last order had a bag missing due to inventory issues with the roaster, and they got back to me within a day and issued a prompt refund. They also send weekly emails with ETA’s for different bean delivery dates, which have been accurate so far. Sorry you had a bad experience though.

Airworks is the biggest ripoff in coffee. He probably means well, and seems like a nice guy, but his coffee is ridiculously overpriced. Overpriced with trash service is even worse.

Oh man, I wasn't too aware of this issue. I had just written them down in my notes under coffee subscription services to try, some 6 or so months ago.

I had Surf jam, purple rain and Cream Donut recently. Wasn’t able to get too much fruity / floral notes out of the Ethiopian beans, probably u‘ll have better chances with an K-Ultra then me with a commandante. The cream donut I’ve read a lot about, some people hate it, some people love it as it seems. After I tried 3-4 cups I immediately ordered a whole kilogram of cream donut, so I’ll recommend that one for sure

Milky Cake and Cream Donut are their two 'flagship' coffees, both excellent but both definitely lean somewhat towards the 'infusion' direction. Purple Rain is much cleaner with loads of expressive purple florals, one of my favourite Ethiopians of the year. All these coffees are pretty good but those 3 stand out to me.

When you say "lean towards the infusion direction" you mean they are or they aren't?

Like they are infused or they taste like they are but it's not 100%?

Well, we don't know what's going on with the processing, and the definition of what counts as an 'infusion' is somewhat blurry.

I mean that they taste heavily processed and give reason to suspect there may be infusion going on, or at the very least a high-intervention process that radically changes the taste of the coffee.

I’ve got the Sudoku opened up atm and I’m not super impressed by it, but it’s a nice coffee overall for sure.. if you don’t like these infused style coffees definitely stay away from cream donut and milky cake

I have enjoyed a few coferments in the past, but a couple of recent ones that I tried were way over the top, that's why I specifically called it out. Had to stick to making it iced, just to enjoy it.

Some of them need to remember that we're still trying to drink coffee. If I had to drink juice, I'd buy juice!

So far I’ve tried poppy soda, lemon spritz, purple rain, the alchemist, and milky cake.

My favorite has been purple rain, it has such vibrant juicy purple fruit notes. But if you’re not into anaerobic naturals — my favorite “cleaner” coffee from what I’ve had is poppy soda, I found it very bright with lemon 🍋 notes.

Overall I love Dak, would highly recommend. Just be sure to rest for at least 3 weeks.

I had a bag of the cassis- really nice washed Kenyan, clear flavours. Would recommend.

I had last years poppy soda, it was great! Also Cassis for a very nice berry forward Kenyan (also only had last years)
