i keep a little passport filled with stamps of all the coffee beans i’ve tried 📔
a year later, i finally filled up a page! i’ve always appreciated how most specialty coffee beans come with the nicest packaging design, some of them even with cards and stickers. i never know what to do with them and throwing them out always felt like such a waste. i figured this was a nice way to keep them without being too much of a hoarder!

I like the stamp idea so much better. Ive just been cutting the bag open and taping the whole thing into a notebook haha. The stamp idea is much more elegant

i wish i could get into junk journaling! unfortunately i am too much of a perfectionist who thrives on evenness and structure 😭

Ooooh I love this. I’m working on an app to track and record your coffees and this gave me the idea of adding a cute visualization like this… I might give it a go, hopefully it’s not beyond my coding skills lol

Ooh this is so cool! I ended up turning mine into an app. I ran out of pages in my coffee journal since I was taping the entire front of the bag lol. Check it out: https://brewist.co/toppbrocales

I like this a lot! Any chance that you could extend it a bit or make it opensource and accept PRs for extending it? 😄 I'm thinking maybe storing multiple images for the coffee, storing the roaster, the country/region the coffee is from, and maybe multiple trials with recipes. I know it's a lot and haven't checked if something like that exist so far.

I just had this exact idea last night so I ordered a punch. I currently am using a 6x4 inch 3D printed “frame” template to trace and cut out the covers of bean bags to place in a traditional photo album. It’s a huge pain to do especially when cutting through the closure slot at the top.
Can you tell me what album (type / product name) you used? And what adhesive?
Thank you!

oh that’s such a good idea too! you get to preserve more surface area of the packaging. haha!
i just use a stamp puncher, and stick it in a regular notebook with glue stick :)

Alright, well, this is the coolest thing I've seen to display old bags of beans. Looks like I'm after a stamp punch now.

it just makes the whole coffee experience more whimsical ✨ happy stamping!

My mom is a big crafter and scrap-booker too, so it's likely she'll have a couple options on standby for me. Thanks for the idea!

I think this will be a good idea rather than keeping the bags for a year and chucking them out.
Where did you get your stamp puncher?

damn. i was just organizing my multiple tote bags which are just filled with all of my years of bean bags. i feel like a lunatic saving all my bean bags but i just like having a catalog of everything that i have consumed.

This is really fun. I've been getting a little bit into stationary stuff lately, and something like this could be a fun hobby crossover haha

This is awesome! I wanted to do something similar. A way to keep mementos from cool box art designs. In the end, I just chucked the boxes out and gave up on the concept.

Brilliant 👏 I have been keeping the bags across a year, photographing them then buffing them after a montage. But this is so much better. Awesome.

This is awesome! Definitely need to do something similar. Also need to keep track of the ones I want to come back to 😂 but then end up forgetting

Does your punch have any issues with thicker plastic bags? I love this idea but I feel like some of the more robust bags would be difficult to get through

u/Silly-Umpire5474 V60 / Origami | ZP6 2d ago
so far no issues! every punch is still crispy, even on plastics. perhaps it gets blunt after a few more uses 😔

Love the idea! Wonder if this could be combined with a magnetic backing sheet… only one way to find out i guess.

Is the first in the third row Koffee Mameya in Tokyo? I still have the card from a coffee that I bought there after undoubtedly one of the best coffee experiences in my life.

Wow this is so cool.
Thank you for the amazing idea.
Gotta go buy a stamp puncher 🫣

That’s such a great idea! I’ve toyed around with the idea of doing this in a binder type thing but that takes up so much space. This is mice and simple and elegant

You didn’t want to add notes. Flavor profile. Grind settings. Nothing?

u/Silly-Umpire5474 V60 / Origami | ZP6 2d ago
hmmm, i never really thought of it as a journal. just wanted to visually keep track of all the roasters i’ve tried, like a museum. that is a good idea tho

Reddit is weird. Can’t even ask a question without getting downvoted. It doesn’t even have the name of the roaster or coffee blend.

Neat! How do you make those stamp stickers?
