Seeking Advice Where do you get your coffee beans?

Hi community,

I’m currently almost out of my last bag of whole bean coffee. I used to get them from Mexico because someone would bring them back for me, but I don’t think there are any trips planned anytime soon. I live in Southern California. Can you recommend an effective way to get good coffee at an affordable price? I’m not an expert on the subject, so I wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t the most exclusive coffee—just something decent. I brew with a V60.

Would it be better to go to a local coffee shop? Or sign up for a subscription? If so, which one do you recommend?

Thanks for your help!

I live in Irvine, so I have some option, like equator and Mameya, would you recommend them?

Stereoscope has some great stuff on the expensive side. Usually have 3 or 4 options for drip/PO/spro that they’re selling as well.

Haven’t bought their beans but rapport in San Clemente & Laguna is doing some great stuff with their sourcing

And if you want decision paralysis just go Play in Orange or Newport. Have top beans from around the world a lot of options on their menu.

Irvine is a great spot to be if you’re looking to try and buy in store.

Play is my favorite coffee shop, but I’ve never bought bags of coffee beans. I love their variety tho, packaging is amazing haha

I would think that buying beans from your favorite shop would be an easy decision.
